FIRST NXP – DRM CONSORTIUM CAR EVENT IN INDIA WORKSHOP ON DRM IMPLEMENTATION AND ROLLOUT.

NXP (nxp.com), the world leader in secure connectivity solutions for embedded applications, driving innovation in the automotive, industrial & IoT, mobile, and communication infrastructure markets, in collaboration with the DRM Digital Radio Consortium have hosted the first ever car event, “NXP Cockpit & Infotainment Forum” in New Delhi on October 22nd.

The Consortium representatives were happy to give brief technical and country updates stressing that DRM is one standard behaving in the same way in all bands. DRM is made for India, for its roads, its drivers and listeners, was their conclusion. DRM demos showcasing especially DRM in FM were part of this successful event, the first of its kind in India.

commemorate the Engineer’s Day , Broadcast Engineers Society (I), Pune Chapter organized an event at auditorium,All India Radio,Pune on 15th September 2019. A Technical Session was arranged on the subject “Digital Paradigm for Broadcast Media: Why?” by Shri Sharad Sadhu from Fraunhofer IIS, Germany and former Technical Head, Asia –Pacific Broadcasting Union, Malaysia. In the key note lecture, he described road map of digital broadcast ,digital radio services,digital television services, online mobile services. He gave information regarding DVB T2 system,ASTC DTV system, high performance TV and HDTV content creation. The audience was enriched with his informative and explanatory presentation.

The session was followed by a PPT presentation competition of Engineering students of E&TC stream of III /IV th year on the subjects Digital Radio Broadcasting - Features and Implementation in India, Digital Television Broadcasting- Features and Implementation in India and Software Defined Radio for Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM). Each college group consisting of 1 to 3 participants delivered a presentation of 5 min. Sixteen no of teams from various engineering colleges in and around Pune had participated in the competition. It was very tough and healthy competition. Trophies were awarded to Winner and the Runner up teams and certificate of participation was given to all participants in a enthusiastic and energetic atmosphere.

Dipti Kamlapurkar, General Manager, NEXA, Vice Chairperson , ADE,AIR Pune Smt. Sangeeta Upadhye. Secretary, BES Pune Chapter,AE,AIR Pune Shri Ravindra Ranjekar and Treasurer,BES Pune Chapter, AE, DDK Pune , Shri Ashok Bhapkar graced the function. Anchoring of the programme was done by Smt.Jyoti Ranjekar,AIR Pune.

In order to familiarize DRM transmission to the students, an demo of DRM reception was arranged by Smt.Chitrarekha Kulkarni,ADE,AIR Pune in the premises of All India Radio,Pune. DRM receivers in Maruti cars were also displayed. DRM reception quality was appreciated by students and faculties of Engineering colleges.

AIR Pune has organized a session to demonstrate operation of DRM receiver and share information of DRM on 06-06-2019 . Function started at 2.30 pm in conference room.Deputy director general Engg and head of office Shri Ashish Bhatnagar, deputy director programme Shri Gopal Autee, Smt Sangeeta Upadhye ADE, Shri Ashok kale ADE, All PEX, TREX, and senior announcers of AIR Pune were present.Shri Manoj Shaha ,AE, elaborated the operation of DRM Receiver also given information of live streaming of AIR Pune on internet and the concept of DRM Transmission 

DRM Receivers demonstrated to all program officer. Comparison between DRM reception and analog reception was demonstrated. Advantages of DRM were discussed and the queries of programme officers and staff were well adressed by Engg officers.Information was given regarding the channel broadcasted on Simulcast and full DRM transmission. Also brief information regarding journaline was given in the session.
